Im Coda Finale Tech Support Forum wurde eine Anfrage nach Griffschrift für die
Steirische Harmonika gestellt. Da das Thema hier im Forum auf musica.at schon
mehrfach aktuell war, gebe ich hier die Postings wieder, damit sie auch ohne

I'm looking for a 'rough' direction to go in to
create a new notation system for a
Steirische Harmonika (Styrian Button Box
Accordion, popular in Germany, Austria,
Switzerland, etc). The instrument has 3+
rows of diatonic buttons. A cleff-less
traditional 5-line staff is used, with outside
row buttons designated with a normal looking
note (i.e. 1/8, 1/4, 1/2, etc)on the spaces,
2nd row buttons designated with notes on
the lines, 3rd row with spaces with X in front
of note, and 4th (if present) with notes on
lines again, with X's in front. Bellows direction
is a solid bar below the staff to designate
push, and no bar to show pull.
Should I be looking at creating a custom
music font, or can this be accomplished with
Finale 'as is'?
THANKS for any help!
Dennis

Dennis -
I don't see why you couldn't do that in Finale
as is...
The notes would go in as usual, then you
could put the X's and Bars in as Articulations.
